Jeannette M. Mills, VP, Customer Operations & Chief Customer Officer
If you watched the big game yesterday and are from Baltimore, there’s a good chance you’re still feeling the excitement and energy of the Raven’s championship win.
Over the last several months, we’ve not only watched our home team chase after greatness, we also saw our customers and employees show their support as they proudly displayed their purple. Being a part of the community, we too stood behind the team’s pursuit – changing our logo to purple in social media, displaying decorative purple lights during the playoffs and even participating in a friendly, yet competitive exchange with our counterparts in California, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E).

So why does BGE take the time to participate in the community excitement? Two main reasons – one, our approximately 3,400 employees, from leadership to linemen, are members of the community we serve. Whether our service territory experiences a major storm or celebrates a sports championship, our employees understand and feel what the community feels. The second reason touches on our core value of community involvement. Sports transcends the competition element and touches on local pride. The feeling of a community rallying to achieve a goal can compel even the busiest of operations to take time out to notice and get involved – no matter if it’s a community clean up, a holiday celebration or the capturing of a championship title. If it matters to our customers, it matters to us.

To all of our customers, employees and fans of our local football team, we also feel the excitement and energy and are already looking forward to a promising future season. We appreciate your creativity and encouragement to get involved. To the Baltimore Ravens, congratulations on winning Super Bowl XLVII and thank you for enriching our community.
