Davenport2.JPGAt BGE, the safety of our customers and employees is our first priority and a core value.  Due to the inherent risks associated with the energy distribution business, BGE is committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment, frequent and extensive safety training and opportunities to learn how to incorporate safe behaviors in everything we do. That commitment also transcends to the communities we serve.
On Saturday, February 23, 2013, BGE will sponsor the Safety Zone at the B’More Healthy Expo.  The Expo will be held at the Baltimore Convention Center and is expected to draw more than 30,000 visitors.  During the Expo, BGE representatives will be available to discuss our programs and offer practical tips for using energy safely and efficiently.  Among our goals for participating in the B’More Healthy Expo is to help the public make the connection between safety and wellness and realize, much like our employees, that being safe requires not only thought, but action.
Whether performing7308339546_daac33871c_c.jpg scheduled maintenance on our distribution equipment, responding to a gas emergency or restoring power after a storm, BGE employees take conscious steps to ensure we complete these critical tasks as safely and quickly as possible. From assessing damage and wearing proper protective equipment to securing the area from the public and going over the job and safety requirements with the team, we recognize the importance of safety twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. We plan to share some of our practices with visitors at the Expo and give them a closer look at how we deliver safe and reliable energy to our customers.
As you enjoy the B’More Healthy Expo and interact with the many vendors and participants, we invite you to visit the Safety Zone to meet members of our team, bring questions and learn how to stay safe while working in and around your home.  There will be several interactive exhibits, valuable information and practical giveaway items for adults and children.  So please stop by the BGE exhibit.  We look forward to meeting you and your families.
Be safe and well.
