Rob Gould, VP and Chief Communications Officer
It’s known as the “unofficial” first day of summer to millions of Americans. On the last Monday in May we fire up our grills (safely, of course) with family and friends.
But aside from the festivities that traditionally accompany this holiday, Memorial Day is also a time to acknowledge the brave military men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice – all in the name of freedom. It also is a time to honor today’s members of the U.S. Armed Forces and thank them for their service.
Many of BGE’s own employees are either veterans or currently serve in the National Guard or Reserves. I personally had the privilege of serving nearly 27 years as both a U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force officer in the Maryland National Guard, until my retirement last year.
In recognition of Memorial Day, BGE honors our men and women in uniform. We also want to pay a special tribute to their families – they too are our heroes and we appreciate their sacrifice.
On this holiday, we say thank you for your service. Thank you for doing your part to help preserve the very freedoms we enjoy each and every day.
On behalf of BGE’s 3,300 employees, we wish you a safe and meaningful Memorial Day holiday.
Colonel (Ret.) Rob Gould
US Air Force
