Michael Davenport, Director of Community Outreach
In line with our commitment to community outreach, BGE served as a proud sponsor of the Baby Boomer/Sr. Expo, which was recently held at the Timonium Fairgrounds, where more than 10,000 visitors attended. This year’s theme “Remember The Past, Celebrate the Future” was all about recognizing the accomplishments and bright future that lies ahead of our Baby Boomer / senior community. What a fitting theme for a vibrant, energetic community that is growing in population, health consciousness, activity, technological savvy and many other areas. Watch the video or view photos of the event.
Like the suggestion of the expo’s theme, BGE believes in a promising future for all the communities we serve. This is why so many of our resources (including employee volunteers) assist with helping various charities and neighborhoods. At events like the Baby Boomer/ Sr. Expo, we spend a lot of time talking to hundreds of customers about ways to use energy safely and tips to better manage their energy usage to save money. Among the many programs we discussed were Energy Choice, BGE’s Smart Energy Savers Programs and available services and support to provide energy assistance to qualifying limited-income customers. While we typically have plenty of literature and information on site, these events are more than just an opportunity to introduce ourselves – it’s also a way for us to get to know our customers a little more by spending quality one-on-one time.
At the expo, we met dozens of customers who’ve had decade old accounts with BGE. A few told us stories about linemen or BGE technicians that they’ve met during the many year’s they’ve had service. As customers have questions or provide feedback regarding our service, we make every effort to assist them and continue to find ways to enhance our performance.
safe and reliable service is a key goal for BGE, but so too is communicating with our customers and building relationships. Through expos, presentations and other community outreach events, we are able to add greater value to our customer communications. Throughout the year, BGE hosts and participates in dozens of community events to talk to customers about issues that matter to them. We invite you to review our community outreach calendar to see when and where we’ll be in your neighborhood.
Until the next blog post.
