Together We Serve 9/11 [Music playing] Stephanie Leach (Marketing Communication Specialist): “We're volunteering with the veteran-led Sixth Branch organization at the Darley Park neighborhood, which is located near Clifton Park. We’re working to clean up the area and we're also working on some construction projects and a field fun day for the local school.” David Landymore (Executive Director, The Sixth Branch): “The Sixth Branch is a community service organization. We were founded by recently-separated military veterans who wanted to continue serving their country in the same way that they had served overseas but back here in the community. We've already welcomed all of you from BGE. Today is our fourth annual 9/11 Together We Serve, a day of service in honor of the events that took place on 9/11.” Mitchell Solkowitz (Manager, Application Support): “Right now we're building. You can hear the success. We're building picnic tables to be used here in the neighborhood. I think it's important for us to be here, to be giving back to the community.” Jenny Hyle (Community Service & Public Art Coordinator, Art With a Heart): “In collaboration with Sixth Branch, BGE and all of the other wonderful companies today we are creating a mosaic sign for Mount Hebron Church. The current sign is hand-painted wood and we just want to give them something that's permanent and made by many hands and very meaningful.” Chris Hitch (Claims Case Manager): “I think BGE has always been community oriented. Our customers are very valuable and so are the communities around Baltimore that we serve and the people in them “ Charlie Hoffman (Transmission Line Mechanic): “One of the things we're doing is we're building some flower boxes to kind of clean up the area. We picked up a lot of the trash on the side streets.” Local man: “These people are here for us.” David Landymore : “This is a proud community. Darley Park and their neighbors care about their community dearly and they're very glad to have us here. We're extremely happy to be able to help them and you know, stand with them and make their community better.” Ms. Frances O’Neill (Darley Park Community Leader): “They give up their time and energy to come and help us. And we're so grateful to them.” Al Chesnavage (Principal Business Analyst): “And everybody's pitching in and everybody is engaged. It's really, really neat to see. And the neat part was we had people in the community coming out asking for trash bags and actually helping us out too. So it was really neat to see that.” Richard Yost (Senior Communications Specialist): “We work here, we live here. Everybody here is our customer so it's great to interact on a level that's more personal, that shows that we really care about where we are and want to be a good part of it.” David Landymore: “This is kind of the brainchild of the BGE Corporate Social Responsibility team and it's blossomed into a very special event. And we're very thankful to the BGE team for backing us in supporting our efforts here in Baltimore.” Carl Strokes (Baltimore City Councilman): “We appreciate today all of those have come from BGE, Blue Cross, and all of the individuals who are spending time in our community today, working together so that we can continue to show the hopefulness of our great beloved city.” Wes Moore (Acclaimed Author): “9/11 is not just a remembrance now, but 9/11 is a day of service. It's about taking time to remember what's important and what's beautiful, and then being part of something bigger than just ourselves.” Lois Randall (Darley Park Community Leader): “And I thank everyone for coming out and supporting us and volunteering to help us in every area.” Mary Pat Clarke (Baltimore City Councilwoman): “To have a whole bunch of people from other places come in and help us, gives us such a boost. And the other thing that's happening today is that we're unveiling a sign that sits on this lot and tells the world that we're Darley Park.” Ms. Frances O’Neill: “Grateful, grateful, grateful neighborhood heart to the people who has come, bless you.” [Applause]
