Rob Gould, VP and Chief Communications Officer
Throughout BGE’s nearly 200-year history, BGE has come to appreciate the true value of our partners in the emergency services and law enforcement community. Often times, we find ourselves side-by-side, working to make a situation safe or to restore power to our customers after crisis has struck our region. Like many first responders, we know firsthand what it means to be in a constant state of readiness - to perform at the highest level, with no room for compromise when it comes to safety. As a firefighter and EMT with 30 years of active service with the Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company, I know how fortunate we are here in Maryland to have a system of volunteer and career fire, EMS and law enforcement professionals as well as non-governmental organizations – all ready to respond in our time of need. Their selflessness and dedication to providing us the finest care and response possible – frequently at a moment’s notice – is not lost on our company.
As part of our commitment to supporting the communities we serve, BGE is proud to announce a newly developed grant initiative, which recognizes the important work of first responders and further supports their commitment to providing emergency assistance in our times of need.
Through our Emergency Responders Safety Grants program, emergency response organizations who meet the 501c3 criteria, can apply for funding to help enhance their operation. While the program is not intended to supplement the day to day operating budget of an organization, it is designed to support, for example, the purchase of new piece ofequipment, including vehicles, or the upgrade of a station or other facility improvements. Our belief is that by supporting our local emergency heroes, we are furthering their ability to help keep our communities safe.
Let's support a 'Safety First' culture.
