Common Questions

What information is required to research a transmission site?: Structure number, circuit number (CKT), coordinates and cross streets are the primary requirements. Please complete and submit a Collocation Inquiry form from our Downloads page in the Processes section of our site and submit to your respective Account Manager
What is a CKT number?: ”CKT” stands for “circuit” and it identifies the transmission line that runs from one substation to the next.
What is the difference between a Safety Watchman and a Safety Escort and when are they required?: A BGE Safety Watchman must be present in any of the following scenarios: work being performed on a transmission R.O.W., an equipment delivery to a transmission R.O.W. requiring the need of a boom truck or heavy equipment; when a BGE approved vendor has been granted approval to climb a transmission structure or a communications tower INSIDE a substation. A BGE Safety Escort is required to gain access to any secured BGE facility such as a substation or service center.
