Sustainability and quality of life make a community thrive. Since our founding nearly 200 years ago, BGE has played an integral role in working with Maryland communities to address economic development, public safety, civic issues and other initiatives that help improve our neighborhoods and communities.

Together with our customers, we actively and enthusiastically partner with organizations that work to improve the quality of life in the communities where we live and work. We believe that BGE’s success is closely linked with the overall success and health of the community.
 
We focus our funding on programs that will deliver measurable and sustainable impact in the following areas: 
 
 
Energy Efficiency: We partner with organizations that educate and aid the community in conserving energy and reducing demand. As well as improving and upgrading inefficient facilities in conjunction with the BGE Smart Energy Savers Program®.
Environment: Programs that protect and improve the quality of our environment are essential to our customers  and our employees. Partnering with organizations that support education, conservation and preservation, we work to promote environmental stewardship and awareness in the communities where we live and work.
Economic and Community Development: BGE is committed to creating progress in the local economy with new technologies, personal and professional growth, children and family assistance, arts and culture, and basic improvement in our living standards. Working jointly with our community partners, we strive to positively impact the lives of all our customers, neighbors and employees.
Emergency Response/Safety: As a community, we work together as an integral team when an emergency arises. BGE supports programs that provide assistance for community needs in this area.
Education: We support programs that encourage students of all ages to work hard and develop skills  which will help them contribute to the future growth and success of our society. We encourage and promote innovation and advances in technology, sustainability, and efficiency as we work together to build a stronger community.

Our Giving Guidelines 

  1. BGE will only award grants to certified nonprofit organizations in the communities where our employees and customers live and work

  2. BGE only provides grants to 501c3 organizations, not individuals

  3. Qualified organizations must not discriminate based on religion, ethnicity, gender or sexual orientation

  4. Organizations must NOT have received a grant from Exelon or any other subsidiaries within the past 12 months
