Time-of-Use

Are TOU rates right for you?

They may be just the right choice. If you can control the time of day that you consume energy, TOU rates may help you save money. Think about when you use your dishwasher or do your laundry and then check the charts. Summer or winter, most of the low-rate time periods are nights and weekends.

How does it work?

When you sign up for the TOU rate plan, we’ll replace your electric meter with a Time-of-Use meter, at no charge. It monitors how much electricity you use and when you use it.So think about the time of day when you use energy most.

If someone is home all day, Time-of-Use rates probably aren’t best for you. But if you’re home mostly nights and weekends, Time-of-Use rates could be your chance to trim your electric bill.If you purchase your electricity from a supplier other than BGE, BGE’s generation and transmission Time-of-Use rates do not apply.

Please check with your supplier for their rates. You may be able to obtain TOU rates from another supplier.
