BGE has an experienced group of employee volunteers specially trained to conduct free educational and informational presentations to community groups and civic organizations on the following topics.
Please allow a minimum of four weeks' lead-time for your request.
- Save Energy, Save Money – A fun, interactive conservation workshop designed to give no-and low-cost energy saving strategies to groups of ten or more.
- Energy Assistance – A workshop that provides information about energy assistance programs, eligibility requirements, and instructions for applying for assistance.
- Gas and Electric Safety – Addresses what to do when the power goes out, reporting gas odors, electric emergencies, and tampering with electricity.
- Billing – A simple, easy explanation of how to read your monthly gas and electric bill.
- Budget Billing – Despite unexpected swings in the weather, your energy bills can still be predictable. Learn how BGE's Budget Billing Program can take the ups and downs out of your energy bills.
- Safety Around Gas and Electricity
- From Power Plant to You – Students in grades 4-6 learn how electricity is made, transmitted and distributed. From Power Plant to You literally starts at the beginning of the generation cycle and follows through to the "flick of the switch" in the consumers home or business.
- Orientation to the World of Work – Students in grades 9-12 explore the world of work. This workshop allows high school students to understand what it takes to be successful on the job. Resume writing, interviewing, dressing for success and business ethics are among the interesting topics shared.
- Utility Careers …more than reading meters – Who is at work in the local utility? High school students discover that their local utility employs everyone from a custodian to a physician. Students will learn how to prepare for the job of their dreams, current employment trends and developmental opportunities. Who knows they just might find that there is a place for them in their local utility.
- Utility Pricing – Energy prices rise and fall as a result of weather, supply and demand and a host of other variables. On a timely basis, BGE makes presentations to help customers understand and prepare for significant pricing changes.
