The following documents provide helpful information about the feasibility of interconnecting a small generator facility on BGE's utility electric distribution system.
BGE Distributed Generation Interconnection Requirements
These standards describe technical requirements BGE will consider in evaluations of interconnected generation on BGE's electric system.
CSR-6: Guideline for Parallel Interconnection of Customer-Owned Synchronous Generation to the BGE Distribution or Transmission System
These standards describe technical considerations BGE will consider for customer substations with interconnected generation on BGE's electric system.
BGE Net Metering Rider
BGE installs, owns and maintains all metering needed to measure kilowatt-hours delivered from or to BGE. Eligible customers installing a solar, wind or biomass electrical generating facility not exceeding 2 MW may request Net Energy Metering. The solar, wind or biomass electrical generating facility must be owned by the customer and located on the customer's premises.
Rider 24 Load Response Program
BGE's Load Response Program offers two options to customers:
- Option 1 - PJM Load Response Programs offers compensation for voluntarily reducing demand for electricity during specific periods.
- Option 2 - Firm Capacity Incentive offers additional compensation for the customer's firm commitment to reduce demand upon emergency electricity supply situations within the PJM Interconnection control area.
Customers may participate in Option 1 or Option 2, or both. For the purpose of this program, "load response" means demand reduction and/or on-site, self-supply generation. The effect of the customer's load response shall be a net reduction of load on BGE's system.
