Who is eligible to receive the credit?

Customers who have active residential electric distribution accounts on 8/29/08 will receive the credit.

What if I move within BGE's service area?

If you move within BGE's service area and will still have an active BGE residential electric distribution account on 8/29/08, you are entitled to the credit.

What if I move out of BGE's service area prior to 8/29/08?

If you move out of BGE's service area or no longer have a BGE electric distribution account on 8/29/08, you will not receive the credit. Only those residential electric distribution customers with an active account on 8/29/08 will receive the credit.

Do I have to purchase my electricity supply from BGE to receive the credit?

No. BGE is your electric distribution company. As long as you are a residential electric customer with an active account on 8/29/08, you can choose any licensed, qualified energy supplier to supply your electricity and still get the credit.

Can I ask for a refund check instead of a bill credit?

No, the credit will apply to your September bill and reduce your balance until used up.

Can I receive the credit now ahead of time?

No. Customers who have active residential electric distribution accounts on 8/29/08 will receive the credit on their September bill, not before this.

How will the credit impact my bill?

The credit will reduce your bill as if it were a regular payment. If there is any credit remaining, it will reduce future bills until used up.

If my bill is less than $170, will the credit carry over to the next month?

Yes. The credit will carry over to the next bill as if it were a payment.

What if I don't get a bill in September? When will I get the credit?

The credit will appear on the first bill that you receive after August 29th, whenever that is.

Why are only active accounts on 8/29/08 getting the credit?

The requirement that a residential electric distribution account be active on August 29th to receive the credit is included in BGE's Retail Electric Tariff, which was approved by the Maryland Public Service Commission.
