The Fuel Fund of Maryland - Share the Warmth with Those in Need

Last year, more than 20,000 Maryland individuals received help from those who generously donated to the Fuel Fund of Maryland. For over 25 years, the Fuel Fund has helped families stay warm in the winter, cool in the summer, and have lights year ‘round.

Poverty and the increasing cost of food, energy and other essentials can even force some limited-income households to choose between putting food on the table or paying their heating bill. The Fuel Fund, an independent 501-c3 non-profit organization, provides energy assistance to help pay heating and utility bills for thousands of our neighbors in need. In 2007, out of the 20,000 helped, more than half of those who benefited were children.

How Can You Help?
This year, with higher energy costs, even more of our fellow Marylanders are likely to need our help. Please consider helping families who can't afford to heat their homes this winter by giving generously to the Fuel Fund of Maryland. As a corporate sponsor, BGE covers the cost of the envelope campaign (recently included in BGE bills) and a number of advertising initiatives, so your contributions go directly to those who need assistance. For additional information or to learn how to donate, visit the Fuel Fund Web site.

With the  Penny Round-Up program, you can round up your monthly BGE payment to the nearest dollar and send those extra pennies directly to the Fuel Fund of Maryland.  Click here to sign up.
