  Please remember:

  • Check with your nursery expert, a Maryland Licensed Professional Forester, or a Certified Arborist for the maximum height and crown spread before choosing and planting any tree near overhead utility lines.
  • Before substituting another hybrid within the same genus and species, make sure it is also suitable for planting near utility facilities.
  • BGE recommends that customers avoid planting trees and shrubs directly below power lines to limit the potential for safety and reliability issues in the future. However, if you choose to plant directly below power lines, please select trees and shrubs that will grow to a maximum height of 25 feet.
