On November 25, 2014, the Maryland Public Service Commission (PSC) issued an order granting BGE’s request to automatically enroll customers into the opt-out program who have been unresponsive to BGE’s multiple attempts at contact to upgrade their electric and gas meters with smart meters.
 
BGE is reviewing this order and will communicate next steps to those customers to whom this order applies.  Before any opt-out fees are assessed to customers who have not yet scheduled an appointment to have their smart meter installed, BGE will contact those customers.  If you do not have a smart meter and would like to schedule an installation appointment, please call BGE at 855.470.8800.
