How it Works
Energy curtailment is a successful way for the system operator, PJM, to reduce electric loads during periods of peak demand. Customers can reduce their load by:
- Changing their operations (move work to a night shift)
- Shutting equipment down
- Adjusting their lighting load
- Adjusting their HVAC loads
- Operating their on-site generator (s)
- Or, any combination of the above
Available Programs
BGE's electric customers can participate in a voluntary Energy Reduction Program or a mandatory Capacity Reduction Program, or both.
