offers you a variety of options to save energy, money and the environment. Plus, these programs support the EmPOWER Maryland Energy Efficiency Act.
Heating and Cooling
Get $100 to $1,800 in rebates from BGE’s Smart Energy Savers Program on high-efficiency heating and cooling equipment and services, while improving your home’s energy efficiency and comfort. Heating and air conditioning (HVAC) account for up to 50% of the energy you use at home. A properly installed and maintained heating and cooling system can reduce your energy use, improve comfort, and help you save money. The PeakRewards program is designed by BGE to help ease the "peak" demand for electricity in the Mid-Atlantic region. When you participate in the program, you will help offset air conditioner demand during periods of "peak" electricity usage, thus helping to reduce the likelihood of power outages. As a reward for joining, you can save with bill credits this summer and every summer during which you remain enrolled. Read more

A Quick Home Energy Check-up is a fast, easy way to increase the energy efficiency of your home and help you start saving immediately. When you schedule a Check-up, one of our energy efficiency professionals will come to your home and check the condition of its insulation, heating and air cooling system, lighting, appliances, and more, to identify simple ways to help you save energy and money! Home Performance with ENERGY STAR®
Do you have a room that’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter? No matter what you do to reduce your energy use, do your bills stay high? Home Performance with ENERGY STAR offers a comprehensive, whole-house approach to improving your home’s energy efficiency, comfort, and safety while helping to reduce your energy use by 10 to 20%. BGE Smart Energy Manager
BGE’s Smart Energy Manager (SEM) program allows you to view detailed information on how you use your energy, and helps you find ways to reduce your energy use, saving you money on your bill while reducing your impact on the environment. Read more
BGE Smart Energy Rewards
BGE Smart Energy Rewards is a voluntary program that helps you earn credits on your summer electricity bills. The program is available to BGE residential customers with smart meters installed before June 1, 2013. Read more
Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) is now administering The EmPOWER Maryland Low Income Energy Efficiency Program (LIEEP).This program helps income qualified customers with installation of energy conservation materials in their homes. The program may provide the following improvements to make your home safer, healthier and more energy efficient:
- Insulation in the attic, floors and walls;
- Hot water system improvements;
- Lighting retrofits;
- Furnace cleaning, tuning and safety repairs;
- Refrigerator retrofit, if applicable;
- Health and safety items.
