Each month, you’ll pay your regular BGE charges for that month, plus an installment amount— which is a portion of your overdue balance.
The Bill Extender Plan adjusts BGE bill due dates to work with certain fixed income payment schedules. Customers receiving Social Security, Disability, V.A., or other benefits may qualify. For more information, or to sign up, call 800.685.0123 or Contact Us

If you have a past-due balance with BGE because of financial difficulties, you may want to consider a payment plan. This will allow you to make installment payments to bring your account up-to-date, in addition to paying each current month’s charges. BGE offers the Deferred Payment Arrangement Plan for qualified customers.
To qualify for a Deferred Payment Arrangement Plan, you must:
These amounts must be paid in full.
If at any time you do not pay the installment, plus your current month’s charges, you will be in default on the plan, you will be charged all remaining past-due amounts, and you could be subject to collection actions.
With the Deferred Payment Arrangement Plan, you would pay a minimum of one quarter of the total "Amount Due" on your most recent bill in addition to each current month’s bill. You then pay the remaining balance in installments of 1-24 months, whatever you prefer.
Your payment plan will consist of the down payment (if you choose to make one), monthly installment amount (a fraction of your remaining past-due amount), and charges for each current month’s BGE service, which must be paid in full. If at any time you do not pay the installment, plus your current month’s charges, you will be in default on the plan and you could be subject to collection actions.
If you've defaulted on your Deferred Payment Arrangement, you may be eligible for reinstatement. You must be within the timeframe of your original arrangement in order to reinstate. Fees may apply.
Important Notice: If you are approved for a payment plan and select an option that includes a down payment, you must pay your down payment by the due date in the confirmation notice. If you fail to pay the down payment, you will be in default of this plan, subject to collection actions, and you may not be eligible for future payment plans if you've defaulted twice within an 18-month period.
