Subscribe to Alerts

Login to your online account to sign up for personalized alerts and receive phone, email and text* messages that notify you of important information about your account and service, including:

Outage Notifications
Sign up for proactive outage notifications by phone call, email or text. If you’ve provided your cell phone number, you can text several different commands to MYBGE (69243) for
           outage information via text message.

  • Text ADD OUTAGE to sign up for outage notifications.
  • Text OUT to report an outage.
  • Text STAT to request an estimated time of restoration (ETR).
  • Text HELP for a valid list of commands
  • Text STOP to unsubscribe from all SMS text messages from BGE. If you do not wish to unsubscribe from all BGE text messages, simply login to your online account and uncheck “Unplanned Outage Notification” texts under your notification preferences.


Severe Impact Weather Alerts
BGE may choose to contact you if a severe-impact storm, such as a hurricane or blizzard, is expected in our service area to encourage you to prepare for potential outages. Sign
           up to receive a phone call, email or text by selecting your notification preferences through
           BGE.com/MyAccount.


Bill Payment Reminders
Receive an email alert when your bill is ready to be viewed, when it’s scheduled to be paid or when payment is processing.


Energy Usage Alerts

  • High Usage Alerts: Receive an early warning by phone, email or text if you are headed towards a bill that is higher than usual. This gives you time to reduce your usage before your next bill and helps to prevent billing surprises. Eligible customers can also set a bill threshold to alert you when your bill is projected to be higher than a specific amount each month.
  • Weekly Usage Reports: Receive weekly email reports that contain personalized savings tips, a projection of your monthly electric bill and a breakdown of your electric usage each day of the week to identify when you use the most electricity.
  • Home Energy Reports: Email and paper reports include energy usage data provided by your smart meter, energy- saving tips and easy-to-read graphs to help you understand the way your household uses energy and to find smart ways to make your home more efficient.
  • Smart Energy Rewards: Energy Savings Day Alerts: Up to ten times each summer, BGE will notify you by phone call, email or text, typically the day before an Energy Savings Day is scheduled to find ways to save from 1 pm – 7 pm during the Energy Savings Day
  • PeakRewards: PeakRewards Air Conditioning or Electric Water Heater program participants can sign up to receive an email and/or text at the start and end of cycling events.
