Alerts and Reports


Did you know you can sign up to get texts*, mobile app alerts or emails with important information about your account and your energy usage? These personalized alerts and reports can help you avoid surprises on your energy bill, know when to take steps to reduce your energy usage, stay informed about Energy Savings Day events and more.

How to Sign Up

Signing up for alerts and reports is easy. Here’s how:
  1. Log in to your online account.
  2. Go to My Notification Preferences in the My Profile section (if you have not yet logged in, you will be directed to do so first).
Select the notifications you want to receive and choose how you want to be notified. Unless otherwise noted below, you can choose to receive email, text* or phone alerts — or all three. (To receive mobile app alerts, sign up through the BGE mobile app.)

Types of Alerts

You can choose the type of notifications you want to receive. Here’s a summary of the alerts available:

Outage Notifications:

  • Outage Notifications notify you of estimated restoration times and other information.

Severe Impact Weather Alerts:

  • Severe Impact Weather Alerts help you plan ahead of a major storm.

Bill Payment Reminders:

  • Bill Payment Reminders notify you when your bill is ready to view or payment is scheduled.

Energy Savings Day Alerts:

  • Energy Savings Day Alerts tell you when the next event is taking place and how much you saved after the event.

High Usage Alerts:

  • High Usage Alerts provide an early warning when your bill is trending higher than usual.

Weekly Usage Reports:

  • Weekly Usage Reports include a projection of your next bill and breakdown your weekly energy usage.

Home Energy Reports:

  • Home Energy Reports include energy usage data, energy-saving tips and easy-to-read graphs.

PeakRewards℠ Air Conditioning Program Alerts:

  • PeakRewards℠ Air Conditioning Program Alerts notify participants at the start and end of cycling events.

High Usage Alerts


BGE Outage Notifications

*Message and data rates may apply. If you’d like to receive text messages, you must opt in and provide your cell phone number. You may cancel your alert subscription at any time. However, you will be unsubscribed from all BGE text messages.

**You must have 12 months of billing data to receive High Usage Alerts. Bill threshold option is not available for Budget Billing customers and those who have chosen an energy supplier other than BGE.
