BGE Recognizes National Lineworker Appreciation Day

Electric field workers recognized for providing safe and reliable service to customers

BALTIMORE (July 10, 2018) – In recognition of National Lineworker Appreciation Day, BGE honors the men and women who work tirelessly, day-in and day-out, to serve electric customers across the region. BGE celebrates electric field workers, including those who work in substations, on underground and overhead systems and in other areas of BGE's electric distribution system. They respond 24 hours a day, seven days a week, on weekends and holidays, and in challenging conditions to keep the lights on for customers.

"We are thankful for all our employees who work in challenging conditions to deliver safe and reliable energy service to our customers," said Stephen J. Woerner, BGE president and chief operating officer. "Some of those conditions were evident as crews worked to restore power to customers impacted by the unprecedented wind storms in March, and during the mutual assistance provided in remote, mountainous areas of Puerto Rico during a historic seven-week deployment."

BGE joins the Electric Edison Institute, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and energy companies across the nation, including Exelon sister utilities Atlantic City Electric, ComEd, Delmarva Power, PECO and Pepco, in honoring electric field workers.

Join utilities nationwide in saying thank you by using the hashtag #thankalineworker on social media. Connect with BGE on Facebook and follow us on Twitter.

Similarly, in March, BGE joined with the American Gas Association, our peer Exelon gas utilities PECO and Delmarva Power, and gas companies across the nation in marking the third annual Natural Gas Utility Workers' Day.
