BALTIMORE (April 8, 2016) – BGE Chief Executive Officer Calvin G. Butler Jr. has announced two key executive appointments in the company’s regulatory and external affairs division, effective April 4, 2016. Alexander Núñez, formerly the company’s vice president of governmental and external affairs, was named senior vice president of regulatory and external affairs. Núñez will oversee BGE’s external outreach functions, charged with building and maintaining the company’s key relationships across its central Maryland service area and the state. In addition to governmental and external affairs, his portfolio now includes corporate strategy and regulatory affairs. Valencia McClure was named vice president of governmental and external affairs, succeeding Núñez. McClure, who joins the company’s executive leadership team, will represent BGE before the executive and legislative branches of Maryland’s government. She will also oversee BGE’s interactions with state and local governments, large customers and nonprofit organizations. McClure’s responsibilities also include economic development and marketing.

“We place great value on fostering successful interactions across the communities and municipalities we serve, as well as the agencies invested in BGE’s business practices,” said Butler. “Alex and Valencia are well-respected business and civic leaders whose proven advocacy skills will help BGE advance our mission in these arenas.”

Núñez, an attorney, joined the company in 2001 after serving as committee counsel to the Senate Finance Committee of Maryland. He has long represented BGE in the Maryland Chamber of Commerce, including on its Legislative Committee, Environment Committee, and Civil Liability Committee. A graduate of Leadership Maryland, Núñez served as a long-time member of the organization’s board of directors. His current board memberships include the Maryland Business Roundtable for Education and Audubon Maryland-DC. Núñez is a founding member of the Greater Baltimore Committee’s Energy and Natural Resources Committee, past-president of the Legislative Committee of the Maryland-D.C. Utilities Association, and former board member of the Maryland Government Relations Association.

McClure joined BGE in 2013 as director of communications and corporate relations. Prior to that, McClure held several communications roles with BGE parent company Exelon, including director of communications for Exelon Power. She currently serves as president of the American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE) Baltimore Chapter. McClure is also on the board of visitors for the University of Maryland School of Medicine and on the board of directors for Bowie State University, the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland and Morgan State University’s School of Global Journalism and Communications. McClure is also a graduate and board member of Leadership Maryland.
