BGE Customers’ Efficient Use of Energy Recognized With Eighth ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year Award

BALTIMORE (April 23, 2018) – BGE has been recognized for an eighth time by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) with its ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award. The award recognizes the success of the BGE Smart Energy Savers Program®, the company's suite of energy efficiency programs that aims to help customers reduce energy usage. BGE, along with Exelon sister energy companies ComEd in Chicago, Delmarva Power in Wilmington, Del., PECO in Philadelphia and Pepco in Washington D.C., were recognized for their long-term commitment to energy efficiency at a ceremony held in Washington, D.C. last week. ​

"We are honored to be recognized once again by the EPA and DOE for acknowledging BGE's programs that provide customers with the ability to manage their energy use more efficiently," said Laurie Duhan, manager of energy efficiency portfolio for BGE. "This award highlights the prudent energy choices our customers are making and we are pleased to accept this award on their behalf."

The Sustained Excellence classification recognizes organizations that have received the Partner of the Year award more than three times and continue to surpass previous energy efficiency achievements. Since the inception of the BGE Smart Energy Savers Program in 2009, the company's highly successful suite of energy efficiency programs has received 14 ENERGY STAR awards in total and now receives its eighth Partner of the Year Award.

"The 2018 ENERGY STAR Partners of the Year have demonstrated real leadership, showing how American families and businesses can save energy, save money, and reduce air emissions," said Bill Wehrum, EPA assistant administrator for Air and Radiation.
