​BALTIMORE (May 8, 2018) – BGE employees celebrated arts & culture, supported community development, championed the environment and supported education initiatives in celebration of National Volunteer Month in April, volunteering more than 1,200 volunteer hours to power a cleaner and brighter future for communities in company-sponsored service events throughout central Maryland.

"BGE employees have been strong supporters of our nonprofit and civic partners for many years, and this year is no different. It should come as no surprise to anyone that our employees rolled up their sleeves and stood shoulder-to-shoulder with community organizations working to enhance the lives of our customers in a myriad of ways," said Valencia McClure, vice president of governmental and external affairs and corporate relations for BGE. "We're honored to continue this tradition of supporting neighbors and communities through volunteerism, not just for National Volunteer Month, but throughout every month each year."

Service highlights during the month included:

• For the fourth consecutive year, BGE employees volunteered with the Community Action Council in Howard County. Their community garden provides fresh fruits and vegetables for the Howard County food bank.
• BGE Vice President of Support Services Carol Dodson and BGE employees participated in a "Fun Day" with the clients served by The League for People with Disabilities. Volunteers completed puzzles, played games, passed out snacks and read books to adults who are part of the Adult Medical Day program.
• Twenty BGE employees volunteered with Habitat for the Humanity of the Susquehanna, assisting with rehabbing a home for a family in need in Joppa, Harford County.

Employee service projects for National Volunteer Month extended across the Exelon family of energy companies.
