BGE Invites Customers to Artscape’s Main Stage this Weekend

Musical Acts to include Wyclef Jean and the Mighty Mighty Bosstones

BALTIMORE (July 15, 2016) –BGE continues to celebrate summer with its customers by sponsoring the main stage of the Artscape festival this weekend. Artscape is America’s largest free arts festival, attracting more than 350,000 attendees over the three-day period. This year’s event takes place from July 15-17 in the Mount Royal, Bolton Hill and Station North Arts & Entertainment District neighborhoods of Baltimore. BGE welcomes customers and visitors to enjoy international and regional performers at the BGE Main Stage at The Maryland Institute College of Art at 1300 W. Mount Royal Avenue in Baltimore.

“We look forward to Artscape all year and are extremely excited to help bring such talented performers to this year’s event,” said Valencia McClure, BGE’s vice president of governmental and external affairs. “We believe in the positive effects of art and cultural activities and continue to make this a priority area for our community support, particularly as we celebrate our 200th anniversary.”

BGE’s sponsorship of this and other community programs is made possible through Exelon Company shareholder dollars. Earlier this month, BGE also sponsored a series of community Independence Day celebrations as part of the company’s 200th anniversary events. The company continues to partner with the nonprofit Art with a Heart to design and install 100 mosaics in communities throughout central Maryland, one of the three planned legacy gift to the service area. The second legacy gift is a collaboration with the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation to develop a ballpark in West Baltimore to be named the Eddie Murray Field at BGE Park in honor of the Baseball Hall of Famer and Baltimore Orioles legend. The park will be home to James Mosher Baseball, the oldest continuously operating African-American youth baseball league in the country. BGE will announce the details of the third legacy gift, a scholarship program, later this year.
