BALTIMORE (Dec. 5, 2014) — Cogent Reports™, a division of Market Strategies International, has named Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE) a "Utility Customer Champion" in a recently released study. The determination was based on customer research from the 127 leading electric and natural gas utility companies across the country. The research examined operational satisfaction, product experience and brand trust and each utility received a composite score out of a possible 1,000 points. Top-scoring companies were designated Utility Customer Champions.
"Providing distinctive customer service is key to our mission at BGE," said Carol Dodson, BGE’s vice president of customer operations and chief customer officer. "We’re pleased that our customers are noticing our ongoing efforts to provide them with valuable tools that make doing business with us easier. We will continue to work to earn the trust of our customers by striving to meet their needs on a daily basis."
Cogent Reports’ Utility Trusted Brand & Customer Engagement™ study found that utility customers were more engaged when taking advantage of programs including alternative billing and payment methods and electronic account services. BGE recently offered enhanced services in both of these areas via company website bge.com, including the ability to make payment arrangements online. BGE customers can also track their daily electric and gas use online and receive tips to help them manage their energy and bills more efficiently.
"BGE’s customers feel the company is listening to them and responding to their needs," said Chris Oberle Cogent’s senior vice president, energy industry, and author of the study. "This helps build customer trust, and this year’s Utility Customer Champions are among the industry leaders in this area."
