BGE’s Smart Energy Savers Program® recognized for the fifth year in a row for its commitment to protecting the environment and its focus on providing energy efficiency programs and solutions
BALTIMORE, (April 30, 2014) - Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE) today announced that it has been recognized for the fifth consecutive year by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with an ENERGY STAR Partner Award. BGE has received 7 awards in total and now receives its second Partner of the Year Sustained Excellence Award for its continued leadership in protecting the environment through energy efficiency efforts. The company was commended for its continuous contributions to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by delivering information, services and products to BGE customers to increase energy efficiency.
The EPA continues to recognize the BGE Smart Energy Savers Program for its delivery of energy efficiency programs through comprehensive customer outreach and education, and marketing programs. BGE and sister Exelon company ComEd, based in Chicago, were honored for their long-term commitment to energy efficiency at the EPA awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. on April 29.
“BGE is proud to be recognized by the U.S. EPA for the fifth year in a row and to accept this award on behalf of our customers, who have truly made the BGE Smart Energy Savers Program a successful program,” said Ruth C. Kiselewich, director of energy efficiency programs for BGE. “Working together with BGE, our customers have achieved significant milestones by strongly supporting BGE’s Smart Energy Savers Program with energy efficiency actions and by taking advantage of rebates and other incentives intended to help them control and decrease their energy usage, which may also help them reduce their energy bills. The success of this suite of programs is absolutely dependent upon customer participation and BGE has worked hard over the past several years to continually provide our customers with the tools they need to better manage their energy usage. We are pleased to accept this award on our customers’ behalf and share it with the BGE employees who work tirelessly to design, implement and improve our programs.”
BGE’s Smart Energy Savers Program features a comprehensive portfolio of energy efficiency programs, intended to help customers reduce energy usage and demand in support of EmPOWER Maryland’s goal of a 15 percent per capita electric energy reduction by 2015.
