Combine BGE Appliance Rebates With Holiday Sale Prices

BALTIMORE (Nov. 24, 2015) – Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE) encourages residential customers who are in the market for new appliances to consider adding energy efficiency to their holiday shopping lists. The BGE Smart Energy Savers Program offers a number of rebates for select ENERGY STAR appliances that can be combined with holiday retail sales to maximize savings.

“If you are purchasing big household items like appliances, this is an excellent time to take advantage of the great savings and efficiencies offered by ENERGY STAR certified appliances,” says Chris Walls, BGE Residential Energy Efficiency Programs Manager. “By combining rebates from BGE’s Smart Energy Savers Program with holiday sales, customers can get a great deal this time of the year.”

The BGE Smart Energy Savers Program helps customers reduce their energy use and save on operating costs year-round with rebates on the following energy-efficient appliances: 

  • $500 rebate on select ENERGY STAR certified hybrid heat pump water heaters* 
  • $100 and $150 rebates on select ENERGY STAR certified refrigerators 
  • $75 and $100 rebates on select ENERGY STAR certified clothes washers 
  • $50 rebates on select ENERGY STAR certified electric clothes dryers 
  • $150 and $400 rebates on select ENERGY STAR certified pool pumps

More information on rebates and other energy-saving programs is available at BGESmartEnergy.com. The BGE Smart Energy Savers Program helps contain the cost of energy and improve reliability. The programs also help to reduce peak demand and slow the growth in energy consumption to lessen the need for more power plants. BGE offers energy-saving solutions for homeowners, renters, large and small business customers, nonprofits and institutional customers. These programs support the EmPOWER Maryland Energy Efficiency Act.

*Starting Dec. 1, 2015, and continuing through Jan. 20, 2016, the current $500 rebate on select ENERGY STAR certified hybrid heat pump water heaters will be increased to $550. To receive the increased rebate, the water heater must be purchased between Dec. 1, 2015 and Jan. 20, 2016, and the rebate documentation submitted by Feb 20, 2016.
