BALTIMORE (Jan. 8, 2017) – Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE) wants to remind local nonprofit emergency response and public safety organizations that the Emergency Response and Safety Grants application period closes on Jan. 15, 2018. Now in its sixth year, the grants are an integral part of BGE's commitment to supporting first responders and the communities it serves.
BGE has donated more than $1.6 million through the Emergency Response and Safety Grant program to 258 nonprofit emergency response and public safety organizations. Last year, BGE presented $302,000 to 64 organizations, including 22 first-time recipients, representing nine Maryland counties and Baltimore City.
In addition to the grant program, BGE offers awareness training for fire, police, 911 centers and emergency management organizations that routinely work around utility equipment. BGE is a leader for rapid response to gas emergency calls and in working to prevent damages to utility equipment.
BGE plays an integral role in working with Maryland communities to address economic development, public safety, civic issues and other initiatives that help enhance our neighborhoods. Through the use of shareholder dollars, BGE supports programs that deliver measurable and sustainable impact in areas of education, environment, community development and arts and culture.
