Robert Matthews Named Chief of Staff to Interim CEO of Exelon Utilities and BGE CEO Calvin Butler

BALTIMORE (Nov. 5, 2019) – Robert Matthews, currently director of BGE Talent Management and Talent Acquisition, has been named chief of staff to Calvin Butler, Interim CEO of Exelon Utilities and BGE CEO. Kim Curry, currently chief of staff to Butler, will take a new role leading the Legal Claims department. Curry, who is an attorney, will oversee the company's claims litigation and customer claims team. 

"It has been a pleasure working with Kim on many successful initiatives during her tenure as chief of staff, and I am excited for her to apply her legal expertise in this critical and expanded claims role for the company," said Butler. "I look forward to working with Robert. Robert's ability to collaborate, work in the communities we serve and lead our talent management efforts make him a great fit for my chief of staff. Our talented people and our customers are at the heart of everything we do." 

In addition to managing the CEO Staff function and advising on a range of issues that affect BGE and Exelon Utilities, Matthews will continue to lead BGE's workforce Development initiatives. He will also chair BGE's Diversity and Inclusion Council, which is an employee organization tasked with driving diversity and inclusion initiatives across the company. Matthews joined BGE in 2005, having previously held human resources roles with Vertis Communications and CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield.  Matthews serves on the boards of the Baltimore Chesapeake Bay Outward Bound School and Bon Secours Health System Foundation. Baltimore City Public Schools recently recognized Matthews' work to connect vocational high schools with energy career opportunities at BGE, Exelon and area contractors with an Outstanding Business Partnership Award.  Matthews is a member of the 2019 GBC Leadership Program. Matthews, a native Baltimorean, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and master's degrees in Business Administration and Counseling.
