Rodney Oddoye named to Leadership Maryland Class of 2019

Educational program for senior-level leaders in local business and communities focuses on making Maryland the best place to work and live

BALTIMORE (Feb. 18, 2019) – Rodney Oddoye, chief customer officer and vice president of customer operations at BGE, has been accepted into the 2019 class of Leadership Maryland, an independent statewide educational program that brings together a diverse group of senior-level leaders to learn from experts and share ideas about how to address the most vital challenges facing Maryland today.

Oddoye and the other 51 leaders in this year's class represent a broad range of organizations across all sectors, industries and geographic regions of the state. Spread over eight months, members of the class will convene in different locations to discuss issues related to economic development, education, health and human services, criminal justice, the environment and multi-culturalism/diversity.

"Rodney's exemplary commitment to improving the customer experience for everyone in our service area inspires his team to pursue innovations that go beyond excellence with distinction," said Calvin G. Butler, chief executive officer of BGE. "He is an ideal choice for this program dedicated to building a better Maryland."

Leadership Maryland is open to senior-level executives with significant achievements in either their careers and/or their communities. They must have a desire to learn more about Maryland's most critical issues and a personal commitment to be a force for positive change in their organizations, their communities and their state. The selection process is rigorous and highly competitive.

"This year's cohort is a powerful cross-section of leaders from our state. I'm excited to see them come together as a group and do great things in their workplaces, communities and beyond in the years to come," said Renée M. Winsky, president and chief executive officer of Leadership Maryland, in the program's announcement this week.

Oddoye has served as BGE's chief customer officer and vice president of customer operations since January 2018. He is responsible for ensuring that the company provides best-in-class customer service. As BGE's principal customer advocate, he leads all customer operations and is charged with finding innovative ways to meet or exceed customers' needs and expectations. He joined BGE in 2003 and held leadership positions in electric distribution and finance prior to his current role.

Other recent BGE participants in Leadership Maryland include Vice President of Transmission and Substations Carol Dodson (2018), Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer David Vahos (2016) and Vice President of Government Affairs Valencia McClure (2015).
