The BGE Logo is Changing. What Isn't Changing is Our Commitment to Powering a Cleaner and Brighter Future for Maryland Customers and Communities

BGE remains a subsidiary of Exelon, the nation’s leading utility company that has now completed a separation from its former power generation business
BALTIMORE, MD (Feb. 2, 2022)
— You will see a new BGE logo in places starting today. The company is updating its brand now that its parent company, Exelon, has completed separation from its former power generation business, Constellation, which is now an independent company no longer affiliated with Exelon or BGE.
BGE remains a subsidiary of Exelon, the nation’s leading utility company with more than 10 million U.S. customers. Of those customers, BGE serves more than 1.3 million electricity customers and 680,000 natural gas customers in central Maryland. Exelon and its six utility companies, including BGE, have adopted a new, cohesive visual identity. As it has throughout the decade that BGE has been a part of Exelon, the company retains its BGE name, local leadership, Baltimore headquarters, central Maryland service locations, and its positive economic and philanthropic impact on the region.
“The most important thing for our customers and community partners to understand about this logo change, is what is not changing—our commitment to our customers, support for our communities, and the delivery of safe, reliable and affordable energy to central Maryland,” said BGE President and CEO Carim Khouzami. “BGE’s dedicated employees, now 3,200 strong, have been meeting the energy needs for our customers for 206 years. As the first gas utility in the nation, BGE is honored to continue this critical service. For the past 10 years of our history, we have been a part of Exelon, greatly improving our service performance over that time in every category that counts for our customers. Across the Exelon network of utilities, we share best practices, help each other during storms and emergencies, and set higher standards for everything we do. Now, the Exelon family of companies has a shared visual identity that reflects our collaboration and the modern, innovative approaches we take to serving our customers better.”
BGE will begin phasing in the new logo on its materials and equipment over several years. As equipment, workwear, vehicles, signage and other materials are replaced, the replacements will be updated with the new logo. The phased approach over several years is designed to take advantage of the natural replacement lifecycle of company assets. Importantly, the gradual change will not increase costs for customers.
The BGE logo will be updated immediately on digital items like BGE.com, its mobile app, social media accounts, email, and digital advertising. Expect to see the old logo on employee uniforms, vehicles, and customer bills over the remainder of 2022 and in coming years as existing stock is used and replaced. Over time, employees will also have updated customer badging.
If a customer has any questions about the new logo or the identity of a BGE employee, or the validity of a BGE communication, they should contact BGE directly at 1.800.685.0123 to speak with a BGE customer care representative.
One of the first instances of the new BGE logo was unveiled today at the Junior Achievement BGE storefront in Owings Mills, Md. The site enables area youth to learn work skills in simulated business settings from BGE and other area corporate sponsors. BGE President and CEO Carim Khouzami and other BGE employees will dedicate the new BGE storefront later today. This is part of BGE’s and Exelon’s ongoing commitment to the community and to workforce development programs that help prepare central Maryland residents for employment, ultimately strengthening the local economy.
The Exelon parent logo is also changing as part of the brand update and separation process, and will be updated over time, including signage at the local corporate offices. Over its long history, BGE has adopted several logo and name changes, with the last change to adopt the previous BGE green logo occurring nearly 30 years ago. While each of BGE’s visual identities throughout the years have served the company well, the brand has changed over time to reflect new phases in the company’s evolution.
