Privacy Policy

Exelon Corporation, its major affiliates Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE), Commonwealth Edison Company (ComEd), Constellation NewEnergy, Inc, Exelon Generation Company, LLC, PECO Energy Company (PECO) and their respective subsidiaries (hereinafter referred to collectively as "us," “we,” or “our”), are strongly committed to protecting the privacy of you, its customers and the users of this website. In light of this commitment, we adhere to the practices provided below. You should note that Exelon companies may use other electronic media for communications (such as social media) which may have their own separate privacy policies that govern the privacy of information that is shared or collected through your use of them.

You should exercise discretion in what information you send to us by email.  We cannot guarantee that email sent over the internet is secure and will not be intercepted by others before it reaches us.   We are not responsible for the security of information contained in emails sent over the internet.  We do not use technology that automatically collects personally identifiable information from you through this web site such as name, address, telephone number, or email address.

We do not disclose or sell any personal information about you to third parties without your prior approval, except as required by law, requested by regulatory agencies and governmental authorities, arises from the sale of all or a portion of any of its businesses, or is used for legitimate business purposes. Information collected on this web site may be used to better provide you with Exelon's services. From time to time, we may change our privacy policy, and will make reasonable efforts to publish such changes. Furthermore, we adhere to strict security procedures in an effort to more fully protect your information.

Collecting and using personal information

When you submit personal information to us, you are agreeing to permit us and our subsidiaries and affiliates to access, store, and use the information wherever in the world we and our subsidiaries and affiliates do business, both inside and outside the United States.  However, BGE, ComEd and PECO will share customer information with their affiliates only to the extent permitted by applicable law and regulation.  In particular, we may use your personal information for various business purposes, such as statistical analyses, generating surveys, doing market research, improving its services, and notifying you about services and changes that may affect you, among other business purposes.

Who should use this web site

Exelon's web site is intended to provide general information about Exelon and its services. Exelon's web site is intended for adults and not children under 18.  Exelon will not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age, nor allow children under the age of 13 to use certain features of our website without the consent of a child's parent or guardian. Exelon will not knowingly disclose personal information collected from children.

External Links

In some cases, our web site links to other sites that collect personal information by and for other parties.  In these cases, the personal information you provide on those sites is governed by the privacy policy of that site.  We do not assume responsibility for the actions of other parties.  However, we will use reasonable efforts to maintain secure connections with you and limit access to databases containing your personal information to authorized parties, including our own employees, whose access to your information is on a need to know basis.

"Cookie" use

"Cookies" are small text files that are stored on your computer's hard drive by a web site through your browser. "Cookies" enable a website such as ours to keep track of your activities on that website, and to improve your use of the site, such as by keeping track of your preferences. You expressly consent to allow us to use artificial or pre-recorded voice messages and automatic dialing technology for informational and account service calls, but not for telemarketing or sales calls.  It may include contact from companies working on our behalf to service your accounts.  Message frequency will vary per customer.   You acknowledge, understand and agree as follows:
Messaging and Data rates may apply. These would be charged by, and be payable by you to, your mobile service provider. You acknowledge, understand and agree that we shall not be held liable for any delays in the receipt of a phone call to you, as its delivery is subject to effective transmission from your mobile service provider. If you no longer want to receive phone call notifications, you can unsubscribe by changing your notification preferences on BGE.com/myaccount.
Phone call notifications may not be delivered to you if your phone is not in range of a transmission site, or if sufficient network capacity is not available at a particular time. Even within a coverage area, factors beyond the control of your wireless carrier may interfere with message delivery, including the customer's equipment, terrain, proximity to buildings, foliage, and weather. You acknowledge that urgent calls may not be received in a timely manner and that your wireless carrier does not guarantee that calls will be delivered.
Phone notifications may not be available on all carriers. Participating carriers are: ACG, ALLTEL/AWC, AT&T Mobility, Boost, Cincinnati Bell, Metro PCS, Nextel, Rural Carrier Groups, Sprint, Tier 2/3 Group, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, Verizon Wireless, Virgin Mobile. Data you provide us in order to send you phone call notifications as described above may include your cellular number, the name of your mobile service provider, and the date, time and content of the text messages we send you. We may use this information to contact you and to provide the phone call you have requested. If you have any questions regarding the above terms or the types of text messages to be received by you as described above, you can contact us at 1-800-685-0123 or by visiting www.bge.com/myaccount.
 
SMS/Text Notifications
If you signed up for text notifications:
 
"When you select to receive text notifications, Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (“BGE” “us” or “we” or “our”) has your permission to message you on the number you have specified as “Cell Phone.” You expressly consent to allow us to use text messaging and automatic dialing technology for informational and account service calls, but not for telemarketing or sales calls.  It may include contact from companies working on our behalf to service your accounts.  Message frequency will vary per customer. You acknowledge, understand and agree as follows:
Messaging and Data rates may apply. These would be charged by, and be payable by you to, your mobile service provider. You acknowledge, understand and agree that we shall not be held liable for any delays in the receipt of our text message to you, as its delivery is subject to effective transmission from your mobile service provider. In addition, if you decide you no longer want to subscribe, you can respond to any text alert, notice and/or promotional offer you receive by texting in the word STOP and replying back to the message at 94230.
