Construction Updates

On-site construction began in May 2020 and will take approximately 24 months to complete. At that time, some work will remain, including the removal of the existing Hawkins Point and Sollers Point terminal stations.

Throughout the construction of the Key Crossing Reliability Initiative project, BGE will regularly provide updates on project progress:

On-site construction activities week of 7/1/2020:

  • Preparing footing at Tower 7
  • Installing test pile at Tower 2
  • Performing restrike for foundation at Tower 2
  • Performing restrike for test pile at Tower 3
  • Mobilizing barges in water and relocating as needed to get work completed
  • Monitoring vibration activity from impact hammer used during pile driving
  • Mobilizing to Sollers Point for installation of Erosion & Sedimentation Controls

On-site construction activities week of 6/24/2020:

  • Performing restrike for test piles at Tower 6
  • Installing foundation/test pile at Tower 2
  • Mobilizing barges in water and relocating as needed to get work completed
  • Monitoring vibration activity from impact hammer used during pile driving
  • Mobilizing to Hawkins Point for installation of Erosion & Sedimentation Controls
  • Setting up project team offices at Sollers Point

On-site construction activities week of 6/17/2020:

  • Performing restrike for test piles at Tower 4 and Tower 5
  • Installing test pile at Tower 2
  • Mobilizing barges in water and relocating as needed
  • Monitoring vibration activity from impact hammer 
  • Mobilizing to Sollers Point for installation of Erosion & Sedimentation Controls
