We understand that a power outage can make this already challenging time even more difficult. When adverse weather affects our service area, BGE is prepared. If you experience a power outage or need to report a downed wire, please call 877.778.2222. BGE crews are following CDC guidance for social distancing and personal protection while working as safely and quickly as possible to restore power. BGE asks all customers, including those with smart meters, to report their outage. Outages may also be reported online, by texting OUT to MYBGE (69243), and via BGE’s free mobile app available today at the Apple Store or GooglePlay. BGE now offers a special time of use rate for electric vehicle (EV) charging. This new customer pricing plan provides the benefit of reduced electric bills to customers who charge their EV during off-peak hours. In order to enroll, you must have an eligible charger.
If you drive 15,000 miles per year, you could save approximately $120 per year by charging your electric vehicle off-peak hours on the Vehicle Charging Time of Use Rate instead of the Standard Schedule R rate.
With the Vehicle Charging Time of Use Rate, BGE residential customers who own electric vehicles and have a charging station can place their electric vehicle charger on a time-of-use rate while the rest of their house remains on a standard electric rate. The benefit to EV owners would be significantly lower electric costs for charging their vehicles during off-peak hours (nights and weekends).
Excludes weekends and holidays, which are billed at the off-peak rates. Holidays include New Year’s Day, President’s Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and the following Monday if any of these holidays fall on a Sunday. Actual savings may vary. The rates shown are distribution and supply rates. Rates are subject to change and are approved by the Maryland Public Service Commission.
The enrollment process includes two easy steps:
Step 1: Identify your eligible charger and accept the BGE Vehicle Charging Time of Use Rate terms and conditions
Step 2: Once you have completed the BGE enrollment, follow the external link to visit either your charging manufacturer site or your vehicle manufacturer (evPulse site) to confirm your enrollment by agreeing to the manufacturer terms and conditions for sharing your EV charging data with BGE. Please ensure the address on both your BGE enrollment and either your charging manufacturer site or your vehicle manufacturer (evPulse site) match.
Note: If you are currently enrolled in any of BGE's existing Time of Use rates, you will need to un-enroll from that rate before completing your enrollment for the Vehicle Charging rate. Please call us at 800.685.0123 to unenroll from your current TOU rate.

*Actual savings may vary. Calculations are made assuming car efficiency of 27 kWh/ 100 miles and a savings of 3 cents per kWh by switching from BGE’s Standard Offer Service Schedule R Rate to BGE’s Standard Offer Service Vehicle Charging Time of Use Rate. Charging your vehicle during peak hours on the Vehicle Charging Time of Use Rate may result in higher charges compared to the Standard Schedule R rate. Rates are subject to change throughout the pilot with the approval of the Maryland Public Service Commission.
