If you own an electric vehicle, you’re already experiencing the fuel savings that comes with making the switch from a gas-powered vehicle to an electric-powered vehicle. BGE provides even greater savings when you upgrade your home charger from a basic Level 1 (120v) model to a Level 2 (240v) charger and charge your vehicle during off-peak hours. Through BGE's EVsmart Program, you may be eligible for a $50 annual incentive when you install a qualified Level 2 charger for your home and charge your car from 9pm – 7am.
Upgrading to a Level 2 charger allows you to charge your vehicle significantly faster than with a standard charger. It also allows you to better control (and even schedule) when your EV charges by using an optional smartphone app. Customers with Level 2 smart chargers can also enroll in a Vehicle Charging Time of Use rate to see increased savings on their electric bill.
Now is the time to upgrade your EV charger. Any BGE customer who lives in a single-family home (either attached or detached) with secure home Wi-Fi (hotspots not sufficient) is eligible to participate. Customers must agree to share charging data with BGE. Rebates are limited and are available while supplies last. See eligibility details.

1. Purchase a qualifying charger from the retailer of your choice and have it installed at your home by a licensed electrician.
Level 2 chargers require installation of a 240-volt outlet. It is recommended that you hire a qualified electrician who is familiar with EV charging equipment. Installation charges will vary, but can range from $200 to $1,000.* If your electrical panel needs to be upgraded, contact BGE to start this process. Costs and timing for panel upgrades may vary and takes approximately two weeks for completion.

Before you can apply for your EVsmart incentive, BGE must verify that your EV charger is connected to Wi-Fi and your EV energy usage data is visible. In some cases, customers may require a Wi-Fi extender to increase the range of their Wi-Fi signal to reach their garage or other location of their EV charger.
Note: If you are applying through an eligible EV manufacturer, you must first create an evPulse account. Enroll here.
3.Charge during off-peak hours and save. Annual incentives are issued each December**. To receive the annual $50 gift card, you must charge your vehicle during off-peak hours (9pm – 7am) 90% of the time.
