We understand that a power outage can make this already challenging time even more difficult. When adverse weather affects our service area, BGE is prepared. If you experience a power outage or need to report a downed wire, please call 877.778.2222. BGE crews are following CDC guidance for social distancing and personal protection while working as safely and quickly as possible to restore power. BGE asks all customers, including those with smart meters, to report their outage. Outages may also be reported online, by texting OUT to MYBGE (69243), and via BGE’s free mobile app available today at the Apple Store or GooglePlay. There are many ways to reduce your electricity usage during an Energy Savings Day, but the most impactful savings tip is to raise the temperature on your thermostat, BGE recommends 78ºF. If you are a PeakRewards participant, your air conditioner is automatically cycled up to 50% during Energy Savings Days. You also have the opportunity to earn bill credits when you take additional steps to reduce your electricity usage during an Energy Savings Day. BGE customers with a smart thermostat are eligible to participate in the Connected Rewards program and receive $100 during their first year. Connected Rewards program participants will have their thermostat raised up to four degrees during Energy Savings Days. These customers can earn bill credits if they take additional actions to reduce their energy usage during the Energy Savings Day.
Participants will also have their thermostat raised up four degrees during Connected Rewards Adjustment Events. These events could last up to six hours and are usually scheduled during warmer days during the summer. BGE expects to call up to 15 Adjustment Events each summer. Connected Rewards participants' homes will be precooled for up to 90 minutes before the event starts to ensure their home stays comfortable for the duration of the Adjustment Event.
